HOME REMODELS & RENOVATIONS
Home Remodeling in Austin, TX
We remodel homes to work better, feel more connected, and make better use of the space you already have. Our Austin remodeling team brings architecture, interiors, and construction together from the start, so you can create the home you want without leaving the neighborhood you love.
OUR APPROACH
The Home You Wanted All Along
A great renovation is about more than new finishes. It’s about improving the layout, making better use of the space you already have, and creating a home that feels right for the way you live now.

Our Home Remodeling Process
Our difference in delivery lies in our collaborative approach and radical predictability, allowing us to commit to fixed-price construction, even for complex, ambitious projects.

1
DISCOVER WHAT'S POSSIBLE
We start by understanding your existing home, what is working and what is not. Our team documents the house, talks through your priorities and looks for opportunities to improve the layout, flow, natural light, storage and connection between spaces.
For larger renovations, we also consider structural changes, plumbing and electrical locations, additions and how new spaces should connect to the original home before moving into detailed design.

2
TAILOR TO YOUR NEEDS
Once we have a clear direction, we begin refining the floor plan and developing the look and feel of the home. Through our custom Style Story, we explore materials, colors, cabinetry, flooring, lighting, fixtures and architectural details while continuing to fine-tune how each space works together. We also complete the as-built drawings needed to support design development, permitting and construction.

3
WORK THROUGH THE DETAILS
Selections are made and presented for review, and a 3D model helps you visualize the finished home. Technical drawings are completed, structural, plumbing and electrical requirements are coordinated, and engineering and permitting are handled when required.
At the same time, our construction team gathers trade pricing so the final construction contract reflects a clearly defined design and scope.

4
RENOVATE YOUR HOME
With the design complete and a fixed-price construction contract in place, we're ready to build. Our superintendents and project managers handle scheduling, subcontractor coordination and the day-to-day details of construction. Your design team stays involved throughout the build to review progress, answer questions and make sure the design is carried through.
From structural changes and new layouts to cabinetry, flooring, lighting and finishes, the work is coordinated from start to finish so the finished home looks and functions the way it was designed.

COMPLETED HOME REMODELING PROJECTS
Your project, executed with excellence.
“As first time renovators, Moontower guided us through every step of the design and decision-making process. Because they’re a comprehensive design-build firm, we had good visibility into the cost of the total project throughout the design phase, which helped us decide on areas to lean into vs. pullback from. We loved the architect/designer that we worked with who really understood our style/vision and would provide recommendations in alignment. One of the things that was important to us was respecting the original character of the home, which they were very attuned to. Bonus that they have an interior designer on staff who also helped with design decisions such as lighting, color palette, hardware, etc. There are so many little decisions throughout the process (doorstops, edging around the bathroom tile, etc.) and it was so helpful to have the Moontower team guiding us through.
During the build process, we were very impressed that Moontower kept us on budget (in part due to their model) and nearly on time! That’s nearly unheard of in renovating. Moontower dedicates a project manager and someone on-site to help manage the entire build process, making it very seamless from the homeowner’s perspective. Additionally, they remain in regular communication with the design team to ensure all the little details/questions that pop up throughout the actual build are appropriately handled.
Overall, the entire Moontower team surpassed our expectations. We’re happy and content in our newly renovated home, but if we were ever to take on another renovation or addition, Moontower would be our first call!”

“We love working with Moontower! We had never undertaken a major renovation and didn’t know what to expect or where to begin. The folks at Moontower spent a lot of time getting to know us, figuring out our style and making sure we were comfortable with the process. Besides, they are great people and a lot of fun to work with! The results are phenomenal. Can’t wait to work with them again!”

“We had a great experience working with Moontower on our home renovation. They made a complex process feel simple and manageable from start to finish.
They were super easy to work with—guiding us when we needed it, but also giving us the flexibility to dig in or change direction when we wanted. It always felt collaborative, never rigid.
The quality of their work and attention to detail really shows, and we couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out. Would absolutely work with them again.”

Why Moontower
For more than 16 years, Moontower’s architects, interior designers and builders have worked together on renovations throughout Austin. From reworking outdated layouts to transforming kitchens, bathrooms and entire homes, our team looks at the architecture, interiors and construction together so every part of the renovation feels connected.
That integrated approach matters when you’re working with an existing home. Hidden conditions, previous renovations, structural constraints and the way new spaces connect to what is already there can all influence the design. By bringing the full team in from the beginning, we can work through those details early and create a renovation that feels thoughtful, cohesive and built for the way you live now.
Moontower has been recognized by Austin Home for both architecture and home building, and our work has appeared on the AIA Austin Homes Tour, Austin Modern Homes Tour, Austin NARI Tour and Preservation Austin Homes Tour, as well as in Dwell, Texas Architect and Tribeza.

Frequently Asked Questions
Home remodeling costs in Austin vary considerably depending on the size of the home, the extent of the renovation and how much of the existing structure changes.
Structural work, kitchens and bathrooms, custom cabinetry, windows, flooring, plumbing, electrical systems and the level of finish can all affect the overall investment.
Moontower specializes in substantial home renovations and design-build projects, with construction investments generally starting at $300K for compressive work. The first step is understanding what you want to change so we can determine the appropriate scope and investment.
It depends on the scope.
A renovation focused primarily on finishes and existing rooms will generally move faster than one involving structural changes, major layout revisions, additions or extensive plumbing and electrical work.
Before construction begins, time also needs to be allowed for design, selections, engineering, pricing and permitting. Moontower works through those decisions before the build so construction begins with a clearly defined project.
It depends on what you're changing.
Projects involving structural work, plumbing, electrical systems, additions or significant changes to the home's layout may require permits. During planning, our team identifies the approvals required for your project and manages the applicable permitting process.
Yes.
Our architects can explore moving walls, relocating rooms, changing doors and windows and reconsidering how different parts of the home connect.
Instead of treating the kitchen, living room, bedrooms or other spaces individually, we can look at the entire floor plan and determine where changes will have the greatest impact.
Yes. Many Austin homeowners want a home that works better without losing what made them love it in the first place. Learn more about our historic renovations.
Our architects and designers can preserve original details, proportions and materials where they make sense while introducing new spaces and modern functionality in a way that feels connected to the existing home.
Both. Moontower brings architects, interior designers and builders together in one team. We can develop the architectural design, complete the interiors and selections, coordinate engineering and permitting, and then build the renovation.
Sometimes, but it depends on the scope of construction.
For extensive home renovations involving multiple rooms, major utility work or structural changes, living elsewhere during construction may be more practical. Our team can discuss what to expect during planning so you can prepare for the disruption before construction begins.
